Homemade sweet potato fries are always the best and on this post I’ll show you how to make them crispy and tasty. These fries will beat any restaurant ones and since they’re baked and not fried they’re quite healthy.

  1. Cut your fries thinly and evenly – Cutting the fries thinly helps them turn out crispy when baking. And because we are baking, we want the fries to cook evenly and turn out more crispy. It’s best to cut the fries on a chopping board to ensure they come out the same size.
  2. Coat the fries in cornstarch before the oil. Cornstarch helps give the fries that outside crispness while the inside remains soft. If you don’t have corn starch these other alternatives will still do the job, egg whites and tapioca flour.
  3. Don’t overload the baking tray. if you you need to and have lots of fries, use two different trays and spread them evenly. These will ensure that the fries don’t steam rather they bake and become crispy.

  • Baking pan


  • 3 Large sweet potatoes
  • 2 tbsp Corn starch
  • 1 tbsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Cayenne powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Salt & pepper
  • 1/3 cup Olive Oil


  • Pre-heat oven at 220 degrees C.
  • Cut the sweet potatoes into fries then toss with corn starch.
  • Mix all the spices together with olive oil and toss the fries with it
  • Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
  • Arrange the fries evenly. Do not salt them.
  • Bake for 20 minutes at 200 degrees C.
  • Once done, salt immediately.
